The startling light, of course, sent him into sudden convulsions of terror, for all demons fear the light. It makes them sick, and too long exposure to it can kill them quite dead.
The huge blast of light left Tweek stunned and blinded in the dirt for many long moments. And it was quite some time before he was able to catch his breath again, and look about to see what had happened. The blast of light had faded away, back to comforting darkness, but the little demon was not comforted. Something very bad had happened, he knew it. But what?
Looking back upon the dark city that he’d just fled, he was astonished to find that it was all in ruins. The furious explosion of light had destroyed the city, and all the crowded sorcerers and demons and goblins and trolls and ghouls were gone, vanished away.
